FAQs

Our Open Mic is open to anyone who would like to perform 2 min of stand-up, poetry, share a written work, a pitch, spoken word piece or what they had for dinner that night. Feedback comes through the chat feature on zoom. Anyone can participate or just come and watch until they are ready.

  • We believe learning better speaking skills should be fun, which is why we use improv, small group hands on lessons and laughter to help all our students to have fun while finding their voice.

  • We employ real artists to host our open mics. Successful open mics require professionals to provide you the best possible outcomes. We employ working artists and our tech team to do that.

  • Our Open Mic is a subscription rate of $17.50/mo. With weekly meetings it costs between $3-$4 per Open Mic to attend. We think it’s a small fee to support our artist hosts, invest in yourself and make some new friends!

  • We will do our best to accommodate everyone by adding hosts and additional zoom rooms when we can.

  • Our hosts decide the order and we’ll most likely organize that through our Open Mic FB Page, so be sure to join.

  • We utilize zoom for our open mics. Feedback is encouraged in the “chat” section and we encourage “Camera’s ON” for all our participants, whether you’re performing or not. • Not at all. While we do offer a comedy class, our open mics are a place for you to perform any types of public speaking. Some ideas to consider are poetry, spoken word, an original piece about something you’re passionate about, comedy or written memoir.  If you’re not sure what to perform tell us about your day, tell us a story about your childhood, your secret wish, the craziest thing you’ve ever done.

  • Performers get two minutes to speak. You can’t go over but you can do less if you’d like. You can do thirty seconds if you’re just starting out.

  • We encourage everyone to stay, so there is an audience for when everyone goes up. Open Mic starts and ends promptly at 9:30pm-11pm EST.
