Dear Di-ary….

A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER
The Eggnog Christmas Story!
Many of you have heard us talk about “The Eggnog Christmas Story” BUT we never really told you WHAT HAPPENED! Well, sit down, grab your favorite drink and put your feet up for a minute. And remember this is MY version of The Eggnog Christmas Story, I’m sure my daughters all have a different version! Here goes……
Once upon a Christmas…..
There was this family with 3 beautiful teenage daughters. Their Mom worked very hard every year to give them the “best Christmas ever!” However, she worked full time and did everything to get ready for Christmas all by herself, just like every Mom on the planet! She didn’t often ask anyone for help because when she did…no one helped anyway.
Now, this Mom wanted everything to be perfect. You know, just like you see on TV and in the movies, so she worked really hard to get everything done, she bought the presents, wrapped the presents, baked the cookies, cleaned the house, put up the tree, decorated the house, all while working a full time job…..she felt overworked and overwhelmed. She worried if each child had the same number of gifts to open, would everything be done by Christmas Eve, what were they having for their big Christmas Eve 7 Fishes Dinner, etc, etc, etc! How come this didn’t look or feel like the Christmas’s she saw on TV!
Christmas Eve was fast approaching and she was running out of time trying to complete all the little things that were still not finished. And, it seemed to her, that her 3 beautiful teenage daughters, nor her husband, were doing “a darn thing to help!”
Christmas Eve Night…..
Well it came much too quickly…..Christmas Eve night was here, it was just her, her husband and their 3 beautiful teenage daughters for their special Christmas Eve 7 Fishes Dinner. Struggling to get everything done this tired, exhausted, overworked Mom decided that her 3 beautiful teenage daughters should be helping by at least putting some of the food and drinks on the table. After all, she was going crazy trying to get all the food she prepared hot at the same time, which as we all know is not easily done, and she was working herself into a frenzy!
The 3 beautiful teenage daughters, who seemed oblivious to their Moms state of mind, began to put some food and drinks on the table just liked their Mom asked. All seemed to be going well…until the eggnog!
This tired, exhausted, overworked Mom always served “Eggnog” at the Christmas Eve 7 Fishes Dinner…..and 1 of the beautiful teenage daughters, the middle one whom they called Dena, decided to help and put the eggnog in the beautiful gold gilded glass canister that they used each year just for this special meal.
While this tired, exhausted, overworked Mom was busy with the food the middle beautiful teenage daughter, Dena, began preparing the eggnog in the beautiful gold gilded canister just like her Mom did every year. Now, this beautiful teenage daughter had never really prepared the eggnog for the special Christmas Eve 7 Fishes Dinner before BUT, of course, like all teenagers thought she knew how to do it, and sprinkled “cinnamon on top!” The tired, exhausted, overworked Mom, NEVER put cinnamon on top of the eggnog….she always used “nutmeg!!!”
When the tired, exhausted, overworked Mom turned around and saw what the beautiful teenage daughter did…..SHE LOST HER MIND!!!! She started screaming that ”Christmas was ruined!!!” She ran into her bedroom and locked the door! Everyone was stunned…..including the tired, exhausted, overworked Mom! Even she couldn’t understand why the cinnamon made her cry!
The beautiful teenage daughters and her husband all ran after her trying to fix things and get her to come out! After a good cry the tired, exhausted, overworked Mom was able to calm herself down, come out and sit at the table with all of them. Of course, the beautiful teenage daughters and her husband where all quiet as a mouse for a few minutes when she returned. After a while they all started talking about what had just happened and laughing about how silly and ridiculous it was!
The tired, exhausted, over worked Mom realized that it had nothing to do with the cinnamon! She got herself so tired, exhausted and over worked because in her mind it had to be a perfect Christmas….just like the ones you see on TV and in the movies and that was not good…..not good at all.
From that point on the tired, exhausted, overworked Mom tried to get things done early and not worry if everything that she wanted to get done…..got done! After that Christmas she learned not to put all that pressure on herself to have a prefect Christmas. She realized that the really perfect Christmas is the one where you are surrounded by your family and friends, everyone is healthy and happy and remembering the…. Baby Jesus!
THE END
This “Eggnog Story” has been, and will forever be, the time that I, and perhaps “our family,” remembered what Christmas is really about.
“Jesus is the reason for the season.”
May you all have a Happy and Blessed Christmas!
Editors Note: OFM does not condone any of the sex parts of the blog. Diana has gone rogue and I’m sure Dena is the blame for it.
